Remedial Massage is now recognised by a large number of private health funds throughout Australia.
This means you may be eligible to receive a rebate on your massage treatment, with some funds paying up to 80% on your treatment costs, with annual limits of up to $400 in some cases.
Below is a list of health fund providers supplied by the Australian Association of Massage Therapists that offer rebates for remedial massage.
If you do not see your fund below this does not mean you can not get a rebate, simply contact your fund to ensure you are covered and what they require from your therapist to get you your rebate.
Some health funds require individual provider numbers whilst others just use the therapist’s association number that is supplied on a database to the health funds each month.
Please advise your therapist if they are required to apply for an individual provider number from your health fund so you can receive your rebates.
Hicaps has also just been introduced for Remedial Massage which allows some of the Health Funds to offer you your rebate on the spot so you need only pay the gap.
(N.B Hicaps has only a limited number of health funds linked at present for Remedial Massage however new Private Health Fund Providers are constantly being included.)
